About Heroines Monument

The Heroines Monument (Thao Thep Kasattri and Thao Si Sunthon Monument) stands on a roundabout on Route 402 in Thalang. It honours two sisters who led the defence of Thalang against a Burmese attack in 1785.

The statues are a symbol of the island and you will drive past them on the way south from the airport. The Thalang National Museum, a short drive away, tells the story in more detail.

Getting there by car

Take Route 402 south from the airport junction. The monument sits on the large roundabout where Route 402 meets the road to the Sarasin side of the island – you cannot miss it.
