About Karon Beach

Karon is a long, wide beach just south of Patong, with a more relaxed feel. The sand is famous for "squeaking" underfoot, and there is plenty of space even in high season.

Nearby Karon Viewpoint looks over three bays at once – Kata Noi, Kata and Karon.

Getting there by car

Take Route 402 south and cross to the west coast via Patong (Route 4029) and the coast road – or via Chalong and the Kata hill road.
